To ride a scooter you must be at least 18 years old. Secondly, it is mandatory to be in the possession of a (scooter) driving license and WAM-insurance (vehicle insurance). Please contact your insurance company to ensure that your insurance covers courier services.
Every rider with Deliveroo is protected with personal injury and third party liability insurance, completely free. This provides cover for injuries and protects you against the financial costs in the unfortunate event of an accident.
Cyclists and e-bikes (up to 25 km/h) are also covered by public liability insurance while working – and scooter riders are covered when they’re ‘off-vehicle’, for example, when walking to pick up and deliver orders. This protects you against claims made against you by other people, for their personal injury or property damage, as a result of an accident while riding.
You can view more information about this insurance cover, including policy terms and conditions, and excess fee details here.
Note: scooter riders will still need to have third-party liability insurance for their vehicle, as well as food delivery insurance.
Riders get paid for each delivery they make. The exact delivery fee varies per order and includes a variable distance fee. You will be told of the delivery fee payable before you accept the order. Your total earnings depend on the moment(s) you work (peak / non-peak) and how many orders you decide to accept.
Fees are paid every two weeks. If you want your fees sooner, you can use our cash out feature in the app, for a €0,50 fee.
Riders keep 100% of any tips they receive and these are paid at the same time as the rest of your fees.
After you have completed all the steps of the application process, you will automatically be linked to Shopify where you can order your starter pack with a 100% discount.
